New Jersey Youth Corps
New Jersey Youth Corps is a voluntary and full-time commitment where corpsmembers spend half of their time working toward their GED and the remainder in community service and/or work experience projects.  If you are between the ages of 16 - 25 and have left high school prior to graduation, give Youth Corps a try -- you deserve a second chance.   More
Adult Basic Skills
The Adult Basic Skills program will provide opportunities for you to improve your reading, writing and math skills.  These services are free to all New Jersey residents.

If English isn't your first language, there are ESL classes available.  Our teachers will help you learn how to read, write and understand English so you can:

* fill out a job application
* find a job
* get a GED
* learn computer skills
* learn how to become a U.S. citizen
* learn about U.S. history and government

ABE/GED Online Resources
There are a number of websites for instructors and students to use in and out of the classroom.  These resources are free and can be accessed from any computer with Internet access. Students can access online resources and practice tests to help increase their basic literacy skills and work toward getting their GED.  Teachers will find instructional strategies and a bank of lesson plans.

Edison Job Corps Academy
Job Corps provides disadvantaged young adults with the opportunity to be responsible and productive members of today's workforce through a rigorous educational and training program.  To be eligible for Job Corps you must be:
  • Ages 16 through 24.
  • A U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • Must meet income eligibility (See WIA Act of 1998).
  • Ready, willing, and able to participate fully in an educational environment.

New Jersey Youth ChalleNGe Academy
Looking for a new way to get your GED?  Tired of boring old classrooms?  Learn what hard work and discipline can do for you and your career.  To be eligible you must meet the following requirements:
  • Ages 16 ½ through 18
  • A high school dropout or potential dropout
  • Citizen or legal resident of the US and the State of NJ
  • Free from involvement with the legal system
  • Candidates must volunteer – this is not a traditional “boot camp”
  • Must be drug free – no use of tobacco
  • Must be unemployed or underemployed
