Being able to work means that you must be physically and mentally capable of working.

Example:  Sally Jones is collecting unemployment benefits.  She then has an automobile accident and is hospitalized for two weeks.  She is not able to work and is ineligible for unemployment benefits while she is unable to work.  After she is released from her doctor's care, she can reopen her claim for unemployment benefits.  Sally may be eligible for disability benefits while she is unable to work.  For more information about disability benefits, click here.
