Cost to the Worker - Private Plan

You may be required to contribute to the cost of your employer's private plan. However, you cannot be charged more than you would have contributed for State Plan coverage.  If you are to be required to contribute toward the cost of the plan, a written election must be held and a majority of employees must agree to the plan prior to the effective date of the plan.

For 2012, New Jersey workers contribute at the rate of two-tenths of one percent (0.2%) on the first $30,300 (this is known as the taxable wage base) in covered wages earned during the calendar year. The maximum worker contributions for either state plan or private plan coverage in 2012 is $60.60.
